Análises técnica, econ mica e financeira da moderniza o de um sistema de cogera o: um estudo de caso

The use of alternative sources has become more important in global discussions concerning energy supplies. Biomass, which is a renewable source, is one of these sources. Sugarcane bagasse is an abundant biomass in Brazil, and it is a fuel widely used in cogeneration systems. Large energy consumers companies have started to use cogeneration systems in order to become more competitive by supplying their energy needs and providing a surplus energy that the plant would be able to sell. This paper presents a case study of reengineering the cogeneration system in a company. Technical, economic and financial conditions were analyzed for two reengineering proposals in order to provide a basis for choosing the best investment. It was concluded that replacing the current power generation system for a more efficient one is sufficient to meet the energy demand of the company and still allow a surplus of electricity. The financial analysis confirmed that the project could be implemented, as the results meet the current conditions of potential financing.
