Abstract:

New Technologies (NT) represent important tools in education today, because it involves, besides the knowledge of the area, the management of computer systems. For their complexity, the investigation doesn't seek to analyze the paper of the NT in the education and more specifically in the teaching of the Physical Geography. Starting from documental investigation, it seeks to settle down some considerations about the application of these technologies to innovate in to innovate in the process of teaching and learning in the area. Considering that the NT branch of geography that are aimed at studying the physical environment to provide social and environmental solutions to the problems, the NT are seen as activities in which, using a systematic method to integrate the means to acquire and manage data special operations required as part of scientific, administrative and legal involved in the production and management of spatial information, as Geographical Systems of Information (SIG), determination of Global Positioning (GPS), remote sensors, and Models of Digital Elevation (MED), among others, that will allow to reach those new paradigms. Here the first consideration arises: the evident gap between the teaching process and the students' learning and the referred NT. By continuing to traditional training, conflicts arise between knowledge and learning tools used inside and outside the university, leading to the second consideration: the change in roles traditionally held by the persons involved in the teaching act that take to the professor to reach more important dimensions, as that of the design of instructional situations for the student, and the tutor of this product. At issue is that the NT provide a new challenge to the educational system, and pass a training unidirectional model, where knowledge vested in the teacher, to open models where the information located in databases tend to be shared between many students and even teachers. This can be achieved by resizing the role of physical geography, strengthening their validity and relevance. Las Nuevas Tecnologías (NT) representan herramientas importantes en la educación actual, porque implica, además del conocimiento del área, el manejo de sistemas informáticos.
