Abstract:

This article analyses citizen discourse, through a series of focus groups, to propose a re-elaboration of the different categories of communication situations previously identified (Aldé, 2004) to the light of a new reality of online information circulation. Our goal is to verify the pertinence of the Avid, Assiduous, Scandal Consumers, Frustrated and Uninformed profiles applied to individuals with ample access to the internet. We show that the internet does not substitute, but superposes itself to previous media, being appropriated in specific ways by users with different interests and profiles. Analyzing the characteristics of citizens who make of the internet a routine use, not specialized, the present paper points to the adaptation and complexification of the previous categories.
