Abstract:

THE RELATIONSHIP AMONG TEACHERS AND STUDENTS AT UNIVERSITY: A FUNDAMENTAL MOTIVE FOR LEARNINGAbstractThis study is aimed to identify some features of the relationship among teachers and students that are useful in the learning process. All this according to a survey implemented in students in five programs at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (PUC)(Architecture, Biology,Education, Engineering and Psychology) that worked with ten focus groups using a qualitative methodology. Students valued and rejected similar features. They expect recognition from their teachers, motivation to learn and fair standards by which teachers do not overuse their power and do a good work. Students considered that a positive teaching relationship provides a good instance to learn, participate and grow.
