This article intends to develop an intertextual approach to Jo o Cabral de Melo Neto’s Morte e Vida Severina (1956) and Ferreira Gullar’s Jo o Boa-Morte, Cabra marcado para morrer (1962). Both texts are rooted in social protest and participation in the portrayal of the Brazilian Northeast Region. The condition of severinidade and nordestinidade as topological idiosyncrasy.
