Excessive daytime sleepiness with multi-factorial etiologies: a case report and brief review of literature

A 42-year-old hypertensive diabetic white female witha history of excessive daytime sleepiness (EDS),snoring, and obesity exhibits several risk factors forthe obstructive sleep apnea syndrome. In addition,the patient has periodic leg movements in sleep andcentral sleep apnea. Renal insufficiency, with raisedblood urea nitrogen, likely made a contribution to theEDS.
