INICIATIVAS DE RETENCIóN DE ESTUDIANTES EN EDUCACIóN SUPERIOR

Higher education definitely requires to increase student retention – phenomenon that until recently was not considered relevant even though the impressive data accompanying it. Now, this scenario has changed due primarily to competition, family pressures, funding institutions and development policies of countries needing to strength their human capital. The study describes this huge problem and its main impacts and discusses some overcoming strategies which involved theoretical and practical work on this field. Moreover it reviews solutions related to the most effective strategies and suggests some initiatives to apply in education institutions in Chile and the system as a whole.
