In order to reduce the grid current harmonic, multi-pulse rectifier technology is widely used and the auto-transformer rectifier unit (ATRU) technology is one of them. This essay discusses the filter design of 18-pulse ATRU, analyzes the filtering charac-teristics when ATRU drives pulse load and the choice of filter parameters when drives constant power load.
