Hemus Publishinghouse (1918–1948) and the Bulgarian Bookillustration and BookdesignAbstract: “Hemus” (1918-1948) is one of the biggest Bulgarian publishing houses. It specializes in the field of contemporary bulgarian children’s book, Bulgarian literary classics and textbooks. The publishing house has greatly contributed to the development of Bulgarian art and illustration of the book and imposing specific Bulgarian style in the layout of the book. “Hemus” established as one of the most active bulgarian illustrators Vadim Lazarkevich, Georgi Atanasov and Boris Angelushev. The article describes the main trends and practices which “Hemus” dealing with the illustrators .
