Standards of Wealth and Poverly of the Ottoman Subjectsas Reflected in the Legislative Acts and the Tax Registrations (XVTH–XVII th c.)

This study aims to analyze the idea of wealth and poverty of the Ottoman subjects and slaves, which the State created by their legislative acts; to reveal the basic principles applied by the authorities to differentiate the social and the property groups in the field of taxation and the penal process; to outline the State standards and their respective numeric parameters, according to which the taxpayers and defendants were qualified in various property groups.
