Education in Burgas from the Liberation to the end of 19th century

The development of the educational system is an integral part of town history. It is favorably placed on the seaside exposing it to a multitude of ethnicities and cultures. In this period we can see also the existence of Greek, Turkish, Jewish, Armenian, French schools but for the purpose of this article only the Bulgarian ones will be examined in detail. The schools, their creation and development, are presented in chronological order – from the Liberation to 1885 and schools divided in classes dating from the Liberation to the end of the 19th century. Our main focus is on trends which influence the development of education, as well as notable teachers and the school curriculum and the different subject studied there
