Uterine Involution and Reproductive Performance in Dairy Cows with Metabolic DiseasesDOI: 10.3390/ani9030093 Keywords: lactating cows, hypocalcemia, lipomobilization, hyperketonemia, uterus Abstract: Metabolic diseases, such as hypocalcemia, ketosis and lipomobilization, cause financial losses in dairy farms, mainly due to the costs of treatment, milk discharges and decreased milk production of diseased animals. Four groups of dairy cows were selected. The uterine involution of the animals was evaluated by palpation and transrectal ultrasonography during the postpartum period. In conclusion, cows with metabolic diseases had a delayed uterine involution when compared to animals without metabolic diseases
