The 3rd International and 8th National Burn Congress was held in Shiraz, Iran on February 28th and March 1st, 2019. Organized by Shiraz University of Medical Sciences, I was invited by Professor Aliakbar Mohammadi*, Congress Manager, and Professor Farid Zand**, Coordinator of the Anaesthesia and Critical Care Section, to participate as speaker and chair. The main theme of the Congress was ‘Improving survival rate in extensive burn patients’. Over the two days the following themes were debated: Burn prevention, Rehabilitation, Diet, Psychotherapy, Infection control, Acute burn management, ICU care, Modern methods of reconstruction and plastic surgery, Tissue engineering, Cell therapy and Nursing burn care.
