Systemic air embolism as a complication of gastroscopy

Gastroscopy is a common medical procedure with a low complication rate. Most complications are related to respiratory or cardiovascular incidents, especially in sedated patients. Systemic air embolism secondary to gastroscopy is one of the most serious complications, which has been described in few case reports.
