Is population ageing cancelling out progress made in tuberculosis control in Hong Kong Special Administrative Region SAR (China)? Age-adjusted analysis of case notification data, 1990–2015DOI: 10.5365/WPSAR.2016.7.3.011 Abstract: For most countries and areas in the World Health Organization (WHO) Western Pacific Region, the decline of tuberculosis (TB) epidemics and the ageing of the population occurred simultaneously in the past decades. According to latest reports, people aged 60 years and over accounted for 13% of the population in 2010 in the Region, and the number will grow faster due to longer life expectancy and declining fertility.
