Reflections of a Latino Associate ProfessorKeywords: faculty careers, higher education, mentoring, underrepresented minorities Abstract: The following reflection essay is about my experiences as a Latino Associate Professor who focuses on criminology, youth violence, juvenile justice, and the associated disparities with race, ethnicity, and immigration. I reflect about the “race and justice” job market, pursuing and establishing a Latina/o Criminology working group, often being the only Latinx scholar in the room, and the significance of being a child of Latina/o immigrants in a precarious time of immigration and justice. In addition, it is a privilege to be given the opportunity to share my reflection because so many mentors, colleagues, and students have shared their similar experiences with me
