Two Graphic Maps of Hvar From 1925Abstract: Sa?etak In the year 1925, two graphic maps of Hvar had been made by Du?an Kokotovi? and Vladimir Kirin, both ordered and financed by the municipality Hvar. At the time, many a Dalmatian municipality had graphic maps printed, and one can say that they had been adequate town promotion material and attractive product for the final users. Both maps had twenty sheets, Koktovi?'s in etching and Kirin's in lithography. Both artists had intention to depict at the best the town’s visual identity, using most impressive scenes and sites. While Kirin is more prone to depicting details and is dominantly counting on the painting impression, Kokotovi? is more interested in constructing the whole unit and tone contrast. Both maps had been big success with the public and were noticed and commended by the critics. Their artistic value is less prominent than the cultural-historical one, and they should be taken in context of the Dalmatian towns first strivings to promote their places of rich art and monuments heritage, as well as making popular graphic art available to a wide public
