2020 Announcement of Obesity and Endocrinology Congress, July 20-21, 2020 | Barcelona, SpainKeywords: Marjo Riitta-Jarvelin, overweight, obesity Abstract: Overweight and obesity are major imperilment factors for a number of chronic diseases, including diabetes, cardiovascular diseases and cancer. Previously considered a problem only in high-income countries, overweight and obesity in low-and middle-income countries, particularly in urban settings, are now dramatically increasing. Traditionally, a person has been considered obese if they are over 20 percent over their ideal weight. This ideal weight has to take into account the height, age, gender and construction of the individual. The concept of overweight and obesity is an irregular or excessive accumulation of fat that poses a health risk.
