Arundhati Roy in her novel The Ministry of Utmost Happiness employs these devices liberally to bring in the same effects. This article explicates some of the deviations and devices employed by Roy. This is not an exhaustive detailing of the devices, but a mere snapshot of the conventions flouted and deviations deliberately induced by Roy.
