Preparation and Characterization of Fe-N Co-doped TiO 2 and Its Effect on Photocatalytic Oxidation of 2-MIB in WaterKeywords: TiO2, Fe-N Co-doping, Visible Photocatalysis, 2-MIB Abstract: The composite nanoparticles of un-doped, Fe-doped TiO 2, Fe-N co-doped TiO 2 were prepared by sol-gel method, and characterized by X-ray diffractomer, scanning electron microscope, and UV-Vis diffuse spectrometer. 2-methylisoborneol (2-MIB) was used as the model compound to investigate the photocatalytic activities of TiO 2, and the effect of water quality on 2-MIB removal was also discussed. The results show that the prepared TiO 2 was mainly anatase, and the band gap of TiO 2 was narrowed and the absorption band moved to the visible direction after Fe 3+-N 3- doping. The best photocatalytic activity was achieved when 0.001% Fe-0.5% N co-doped TiO 2 calcined at 500°C was employed, corresponding to the 2-MIB removal efficiency of 99.90% and pseudo-first order rate constant of 1.371 18 h -1 by photocatalytic oxidation process in 5h.
