The Effect of Cause and Effect Conjunctions on Reading ComprehensionKeywords: ba?la?,neden ba?lac?,okudu?unu anlama,bilgilendirici metin Abstract: The purpose of the current study is to determine the effect of cause and effect conjunctions on the comprehension achievement in informative texts. The current study employed the comparative research model, one of the qualitative research methods. The study was conducted on 89 ninth grade students attending an Anatolian High School in the city of Sakarya in 2016-2017 school year. The data of the study were collected by means of “The Reading Comprehension Skill Evaluation Tool” developed by the researcher and including two questions for each informative text. Between the reading comprehension achievement scores of the students reading the forms of the informative texts with conjunctions and the ones without conjunctions, significant differences were found in favor of the students reading the texts with conjunctions. Therefore, it can be argued that the use of conjunctions in proper number and suitable places in texts will have a significant contribution to the comprehension of texts
