THE EFFECT OF CONCRETE STRENGTH ON THE STRUCTURAL BEHAVIOUR OF REINFORCED CONCRETE BUILDINGS UNDER EXPLOSIVE-BASED INSIDE DEMOLITIONKeywords: Yap? Analizi,Betonarme Bina,Patlay?c? ile Y?k?m Abstract: Since most of the reinforced concrete buildings in Turkey have reached to the end of their economaical life-time, urban transformation studies have been accelerated in recent years. Considering the fact that these buildings do not meet the construction regulations and have structural defects in terms of earthquake resistance originated the necessity of renewal of this building stock. For this reason, there is a need to study the explosive based destruction technique which is thought to be used widely in the future in our country. The aim of this study is to analyse the structural behavior of buildings scheduled for demolition using explosives and to demonstrate the effect of low concrete strength based structural faults on the inside demolition process. In this context, the effect of structural defects on structural behavior is investigated under explosive based destruction for a typical reinforced concrete building model. A 12-storey square building in plan with 6x6 axles (5m axle opening) is selected as a numerical structural system. The selected structure has been designed with Ide Statik Structural Program. The same structure is also modeled with Extreme Loading for Structures (ELS) program for concrete strengths of C30 (the project value), C20 and C10 (low concrete strength). All the three building models have been subjected to the same blast planning. As a result, it has been observed that the variation of the concrete strength is effective on the structural behavior of buildings under explosive based demolition
