2023 Education Vision Document, Singularity and Transhumanism

The 2023 Education Vision Document begins with an emphasis on the concept of “singularity”. It specifies that singularity is not a science fiction element but a current reality. Singularity is defined as the development of the biological and mental structure of man with the support of advanced technology. The exponential development of technology has led to the defense of the phenomenon of singularity with an emphasis on certainty. Many futurists believe that people will unite with machines and that this will have positive consequences for humanity. Transhumanism is the belief that the consequences of singularity will move humanity from its present condition to a higher level of humanity. Transhumanists believe that many global problems will be solved after singularity. The 2023 Educational Vision Document is critical of the phenomenon of singularity and transhumanism. The reality of these two phenomena is accepted, but the vision document puts forth a unique understanding of singularity. In the vision document states that “our singularity is the unification of man and heart, not human and machine”.
