Abstract:

Abstract Introduct?on: Subacromial impingement syndrome (SAIS) is the most common cause of shoulder pain and dysfunction. Medical treatment and various physical therapy methods are used in treatment. In some cases, it is known that especially steroid treatmenthas positive effects, but there is not enough data about which steroid preparation is moreeffective. Our aim in this study is to investigate the activities of two different steroid preparations in patients with SAIS. Mater?al-Method: Physical examination and radiographic diagnosis of impingement syndrome were made between 2016 and 2018 and the results of patients who under went subacromial steroid injection were evaluated.VAS was used for comparison pain before and after treatment, QDASH for activities of daily living and functional status. Patients were evaluated for VAS, QDASH at1, 3 and 6 months after treatment. Results: The age and sex distribution of patients in the betamethasone and triamcinolone groups did not differ sig-nificantly (p ?0.05). The complication rate, occupationaldistribution and additional disease rate were not significantlydifferent (p ?0.05) in the group of betamethasone and tri-amcinolone. Betamethasone and Triamcinolone groupsdid not differ significantly in baseline, 1st, 3rd, 6th monthVAS and Qdash scores (p ?0.05). In both groups, the 1st,3rd, 6th Qdash score and VAS value decreased significantly(p ?0.05) compared to baseline.Conclus?on:In our study, it was determined that two different steroid preparations had similar positive effects on painand functional status in patients with shoulder impingementsyndrome. The complication rates in both steroid preparations are similar and injections can be done safely in casesof nonresponsive conservative treatment, taking into account the sterilization conditions and application site
