ARA?TIRMA YAZILARI/Refereed ArticlesKeywords: Platon, Mehmed Ali Fethi, Tercüme-i Nasayih-i Abstract: In this work, Ottoman Scholars’ knowledge on Plato is evaluated based on the framework of the moral advices attributed to Plato in Mehmed Ali Fethi’s Tercüme-i Nasayih-i Eflat?n-? ?lah? [Translation of Advices of Plato the Divine]. With the Tercüme-i Nasayih-i Eflat?n-? ?lah?, it is observed that Ottoman Scholars’ familiarity with Plato is limited with Islamicized advices compiled by some medieval writers notably Huneyn ibn ?shak from Greek, Syriac and Persian sources. This view is supported by the fact that there are not any Greek or Arabic based Works or translations encountered in the complete Ottoman period.
