Physical and Microscopic Properties of Anatolian Camel Fibers

Camels have been used for different purposes such as transportation for years and have “fine down hair” that surround their body and could be used in different areas in textile industry. In fact, the camel grows two kinds of hairs, an outer protective coat of coarse (guard) hair and an insulating undercoat of fine hair or down. Since the fibers that could be used in textile industry is the fine down hair, the Bactrian, or two-humped camel is more suitable for this aim. Despite the fact that there are various studies in the literature on the properties of camel fibers, there is a lack of technical information on the fiber properties of single humped hybrid Anatolian camels.
