Physical, Dimensional and Visual Properties of Cotton/Spandex Plain Knit Fabrics

Cotton/elastane knit fabrics are preferred in clothing as mainly sport wear, under wear and casual wear owing to their excellent properties of comfort and recovery. In this study, the physical, dimensional and aesthetic properties of cotton/elastane plain knit fabrics having different lycra ratio are produced and compared to plain knit fabric not having elastane. The study revealed that elastane tightens plain knit fabrics, makes them heavier and thicker, and reduces lengthwise shrinkage, skewness and spirality, considerably. It is determined that 2x1 cotton/elastane plain knit fabric has close fabric properties to the other cotton/elastane plain knit fabrics, especially 1x1 cotton/elastane plain knit fabrics
