HEGEL'S INFLUENCE ON WOODROW WILSON'S THOUGHTS: INTRODUCTION OF ORGANIC STATE NOTION TO USA

When Woodrow Wilson, one of the most prominent thinkers of first decade of 20th century, has blamed the USA’s founding philosophy for failure to deal with the social and political problems that arise from industrial and urban issues, he began to search a new philosophical and political system to overcome these defects. In this research he noticed that German historicism and German state theory was offering a vigorous executive power to manage the industrial life. Hegel, outstanding member of German historicism, has been known in American academies and had a profound influence on these circles. Wilson, who has been met with Hegel in University via his mentors, adopted his philosophy, especially his historicism and organic state thoughts, to reform the constitutional system by rejecting the Lockean Liberalism
