Turkey in the Scope of Strategic Management Research: A Bibliometric Analysis of Articles Published During 2000–2015

This study involved a bibliometric analysis of recently published business strategy articles that cover Turkey in their research scope. By evaluating the coverage of a country in latest research, this analysis aims to detect a probable contextual pattern in relevant literature. In this study, articles published during the period 2000–2015, obtained from journals indexed in the Web of Science Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI), were reviewed. A compilation of 126 articles were assessed in terms of publication years, number of authors and their affiliated institutions, research methods, sampling groups, theoretical and managerial implications, and the number of other studies citing these articles. The notable findings are as follows: the average number of articles per year did not change significantly; the studies mostly utilized manufacturing firms as their sampling group; and the managerial insights of many studies were not intellectually satisfactory.
