EVALUATION OF FURNITURE SECTOR IN DIYARBAKIR PROVINCE BY SWOT ANALYSIS

Industry and investment significantly contribute to development of countries, regions, and cities. Forest products and furniture sector is the one of important sectors in manufacture industry. In Diyarbak？r province industry, while forest products and furniture sector had approximately took 5th row by 13% rate in 2009; this sector went back to 7th row by 5% in 2014. It is needed that this sector has to be analyzed carefully for getting better position in Diyarbak？r province industry. To manage better enterprises, strategic decisions, which develop strong points and strengthen weak points, have to be made by observing opportunity and threats of national and international environment to enterprises. In this study, it has been determined that Diyarbak？r furniture sector was examined what were the opportunities, threats; strong and weak points by SWOT analysis. As a strong points: closeness to middle east market because of the geopolitical position, low-cost labour, increasing at construction sector. As a weak points: financial source and inability in qualified employee. Opportunities: possible Iraq and Syria market. Threats: regional instability, lack of design, and China furniture sector
