The Search For A Contemporary Language On Stage In the Context of Gezi Plays

The `Gezi Park` movements, classified as an urban social movement, emerged as a debate on the right to the city and turned into a broad-based social contract, in which social and political demands were incorporated. The `Gezi Park` movements which became a phenomenon in a short period of time created unprecedented tremors in many areas, from public opposition to social life, and from politics to art. The artistic productions transformed into a means of resistance since the beginning of the movements not only gained the `Gezi Park` movements a unique identity, but also played a part in conveying the concept of `Gezi Park` movements into the future as historical documents. In this study, we discussed how the `Gezi Park` movements are reflected in the theatrical plays by examining the plays written out in the process. What is observed in these plays is the process of conveying the current events into the future by the playwrights who are the witnesses of the present age with a contemporary language and a new aesthetic perception
