Contribution Of A University To The Economic Development Of A City: Siirt University Example

Nowadays the university with its most classical meaning; It is defined as an educational institution which has scientific autonomy and public legal personality and consists of the units affiliated to the same rectorate as higher education, education, scientific research and broadcasting faculties, institutes and colleges. However, universities other than the classical meaning; they also contribute to the social and economic development of the city in which they are founded. In this study, the social and economic contributions of Siirt University to Siirt city are investigated. Thanks to the historical development of Siirt University and its current status, it is revealed how the university contributed to Siirt city and in which fields it contributed. In addition, with the findings obtained from the analysis of the data collected by the questionnaires obtained with the surveys conducted with the university students, 13.410 university students who were educated in 2018 spent 600 TL in average on average in a monthly education period and in 9 months education period, a total of 72.414.000 TL economic In addition, it has been determined that the city of Siirt has provided social development
