GENERAL INSPECTION OF SOCIAL STRATIFICATION SYSTEMS

Each social structure includes certain inequalities. These inequalities derived from various sources cause social stratification. Social stratification is an object of sociology that provides a comparative analysis of the processes of social stability and change in its historical course, as well as a social phenomenon. The aim of this study is to evaluate the types of social stratification systems, their sociological meanings and to examine the differences of the stratification types. Within this purpose, the scope of the study consists of the slavery system, caste system, feudal clan system, social class system. The period ranging from the first age to the industrial society is analyzed in the context of social stratification. In accordance with that framework, each of the social stratification systems will be discussed in terms of social permeability that is defined as closeness/openness (stiffness/elasticity); the social strata they form; the socioeconomic social structure that they belong to; and status of having different characteristics at the points such as the ideological/religious/sociocultural basis, on which they are based
