HISTORICAL FLOW OF FRENCH MOVIE JOURNALISM AND THE JOURNAL OF POSITIF

France has very long-lasting history about cinema journalism for more than hundred years. On the contrary of Turkish movie press the academic or popular journals in France has long-term productivity period in publishing process. This article written based on current digital resources aims to understand how film criticism and cinema journalism effect to cinema industry of France in historical perspective from past to nowadays. This study has an important role while putting a value into Turkish cinema literature which film criticism and film journalism are not very common subjects to be searched for. This article uses historical scanning method to make clear of a film journal’s position which is called Positif within context of film journalism tradition in France. The success of long-lasting film journalism in France is concerned to film activities hold by cinematheques which spread to whole society and also the film critics’ features who they are proactive in media, education, cultural and artistic life as an interdisciplinary behaviour. The journal of Positif is an intellectual interest of France in cinema industry with its institutional durableness. When it looks at the critics’ typology it seems that they are very productive both in academic and commercial markets with their multiphasic personality
