Black Color in Turkic and Slavic CultureKeywords: Renk,kültür,?a?r???m Abstract: Colors are everywhere as far as the eye can see and due to their diversity they bring our lives of the ordinary and give different meaning to it. Colors, which are used in character analysis of human beings, enable to convey feelings and thoughts more easily, have positive and negative effects on psychology and physiology are also an irreplaceable part of the culture. From ancient times, it is known that colors evoke various associations and have symbolic meanings in the culture of societies. These associations which arise depending on color perception and the meanings that the colors symbolize have played an important role in the lifestyle, language, religion, customs and traditions, beliefs, material and moral values, in other words, in culture-making elements and served as a guide in terms of having an opinion about mentality, preferences, habits, fears of societies or norms that are accepted as prohibited. But in every culture, colors do not always have the same meanings or evoke the same associations. Color for each culture is a concept, which contains different meanings. This article makes a comparative analysis of the concept of ‘black color’ in the cultures of Slavic and Turkic people. Based on the study, we came to conclusion that some features of black color resemble in both cultures and some features exist in one culture but not in the other
