Rational Choice in Internal Diseases

Abstract The American College of Physicians (ACP) and the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) Foundation launched the "Choosing Wisely" campaign in 2012 to helpphysicians and patients engage in conversations about the overuse of tests and procedures and support physician efforts to help patients make smart and effective care choices. The aim of this campaign is to make the necessary tests and interventions for thepatient care, the treatment options for the benefit of the patient and at the least cost. Among these recommendations are those for internal medicine specialists. It is emphasized that physicians and patients can use these recommendations for their appropriate treatmentplans as a guidance
