Comparison of L-lysine hydrochloride and L-lysine sulfate on performance, egg quality and some blood parameters in laying hens.

Abstract:

The objective of this study is to determine the effects of two different lysine sources (l-lysine hydrochloride or l-lysine sulfate) supplementation to laying hen rations on feed intake, feed conversion ratio, egg quality (Shape index, Haugh unit, albumen index, yolk index, eggshell ash eggshell thickness and Ca, Mg and P contents of eggshell) and some blood parameters (total protein, albumin, ALT, AST, Na, K and Cl). Total of 60 laying hens aged 28-29 weeks were used in this experiment. They were divided into 3 groups, each containing 20 hens. Each group was divided into 5 subgroups containing 4 hens. The lysine needed by the laying hens was supplied from the feed raw materials in the control group. The lysine clearance of the ration was met by the addition of L-lysine HCl (0.19 %) or L-lysine sulfate (0.30%) in the first (LH) and second (LS) experimental groups, respectively. Rations were formulated as isocaloric and isonitrogenic. Laying hens were provided with feed and water ad libitum. The study lasted 8 weeks (56 days). There were no significant differences (p>0.05) based on initial and final weights, feed consumption, feed conversion ratio, egg yields, egg weight, yolk index parameters, Haugh unit, eggshell ash, eggshell thickness and blood parameters (except AST and Na levels). Egg yields and feed conversion ratios of control group, first (LH) and second (LS) experimental groups were found as 93.39%, 94.46%, 93.48% and 1.92, 1.94, 1.97, respectively (P>0.05). At the end of the study, there was no difference observed between the average eggshells of groups. As a result, we can say that the use of both two commercial lysine sources on laying hen rations have no negative effect
