Cash Management in Sports Enterprises: An Application On Bist

Sports management does not require a high amount of asset investment as in service management. Therefore, the business capital management that entails more than fixed assets is vital for sports enterprises in order to survive. Purchase and sale of the footballers with a high amount of transfer fee necessitates the effective management of cash flows for the sports enterprises. Cash management which is one of the factors of business capital has an important effect on the estimation of the cash flow and the preparation of cash budget of the football enterprises. The aim of this paper is to present the importance of cash management for football enterprises.. In the study, cash budget of Trabzonspor Sportive Investment and Football Enterprises Trading Inc. (Trabzonspor) belonging to 2017-18, 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons is set by using the information and financial statement data that were gathered from Public Disclosure Platform information belonging to 2012-2017 period of Trabzonspor that is traded at Istanbul Stock Exchange. It is determined that because of high amount of transfer fees and the annual payments of the footballers of Trabzonspor a high level of cash outflow takes place and as there is no sportive achievements there is no significant increase in the cash inflows and there are serious problems with cash management. This result shows that cash management is undoubtedly an important place in the success of sports managers
