Economic Growth, Export and Import in Turkey: Casuality Relation (1992-2015)

The most frequent subjects in empirical economics is the relation among the economic growth, export and imports. The export-led growth and import-led growth hypothesis is tested in those studies. In this study, economic growth, export and import variables were tested for 1992-2016 period. The results are in line with the export-led growth hypothesis for Turkey. The unit root test shows that the series are I(1) and Johansen cointegration test supports it. At least one cointegrating relationship was found. According to the pairwise Granger causality test there is one way causality running from export to gdp growth
