Change of Parcel Shapes in Land Consolidation Projects: The Case Study of ?anl?urfa Bozca VillageKeywords: Arazi toplula?t?rmas?,parsel ?ekilleri Abstract: Land consolidation (LC) projects were integrated on 6 million ha in order to aggregate agricultural lands of holdings, provide road and irrigation facilities and correction parcels shapes. The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry aims to complete 14 million hectares of LC projects by 2023. One of the benefits of land consolidation projects is to correction of the parcel shapes for the holdings. The change of the parcel shapes before and after LC is expressed by numerical indicators by many researchers. Fractal Dimension (FD), Shape Index (SI), Form Factor (FORM), Areal Form Factor (AFF), Square pixel metric (SqP), Area-Perimeter Ratio (APR) are commonly used to measure the appropriateness of parcel shapes. In this study, Bozca village LC project of Viran?ehir town in ?anl?urfa province was taken as material. Total area of the project is 1159.22 ha. Before LC, the number of the parcels was 101 and then increased to 159 after LC. The increase in the number of parcels is due to the decrease in the shares. The aim of this study is to compare the changes of before and after LC parcel shapes with the indicators. NetCAD 5.0 and ArcMAP 10.5 mapping programs were used in the study in order to classify shape index indicators and create maps. According to the results of the analysis; before LC, mean of FD, SI, FORM, AFF, SqP, and APR values were 3.07, 1.45, 0.54, 0.04, -0.81 and 5.147, respectively; after LC was 1.30, 1.42, 0.55, 0.04, -0.82 and 5.04. There was a statistically significant difference between the mean values of FD, SI and APR index before and after LC (P <0.05). However, there was no statistically significant difference between the other index values. As a result, it can be said that there is no significant change in the parcel shapes despite the decrease of the parcel sizes before and after LC
