The Role of Midwifery for Reducing Caesarean Section

Although the caesarean section has brought significant burdens to the country's economy and is associated with increased risk of maternal mortality and serious foetal morbidity, Caesarean section rate has been increasing year by year in Turkey and other countries in the World. For this reason, various strategies have been came up in recent years to reduce cesarean section rates. Instead of physician-based strategies, it is aiming to promote normal birth by use of midwives skills as well as continuous support of women and strengthen the care given by midwifery. Because the rate of cesarean section in our country is very high, in order to reduce these rates to increase in midwifery care practices in our country as well as in the World and there is a need for scientific studies to develop these applications. For all these reasons, it is aimed to determine the role of midwifery in decreasing cesarean delivery rates
