Abstract:

In this study, it was aimed to determine the effects of water stress on evapotranspiration, irrigation efficiency [(water use efficiency (WUE) and irrigation water use efficiency (IWUE)) and physiological traits (stomatal conductance, leaf water potential, leaf relative water content and chlorophyll)] in table tomato. The study was conducted in Dardanos Research and Application Farm, Faculty of Agriculture, Canakkale Onsekiz Mart University in 2017. The experiment consisted of four treatments: these are full irrigation (control) which is completed to field capacity of the soil and three water stress levels (25%, 50% and 75% of the water given to the control treatment). As a result of the study, the yield and physiological traits decreased significantly depending on the water stress. Evapotranspiration and yield values varied between 348-869 mm and 22.7-72.2 tha-1, respectively. The highest efficiencies (WUE, IWUE) were obtained from the 50% water deficit. The coefficient of determination (R2) values between physiological traits and yield reduction ranged from 0.47 to 0.94. Consequently, it can be said that the plant was negatively affected by water stress in table tomato cultivation and the possible reduction in yield can be estimated with high accuracy using physiological traits
