Adaptation of the Beery-Buktenica Developmental Test of Visual Motor Coordination 36-79 Months ChildrenKeywords: Okul ?ncesi e?itim,g?rsel motor koordinasyon,g?rsel alg?,motor koordinasyon Abstract: The purpose of this study was to adaptation of Beery-Buktenika Developmental Visual-Motor Coordination Test and its sub-tests for 36-79 months old Turkish children. Test items and instructions were translated into Turkish and content validity were analyzed using expert views. Test was applied to 419 children and correlations among sub-tests were determined. Children’s test scores were higher in older age groups. Correlations were statistically meaningful among sub-dimensions of the test and internal consistency reliability was above .70. Besides, test re-test analyses indicated timely consistent results (r.87-94). Beery-Buktenika Developmental Visual-Motor Coordination Test and criterion validity of sub-tests have been provided with similar comparable scales. Frostig Developmental Visual Perception Test was used as a comparable scale. A high correlation has been detected in and sub-tests between Frostig and Beery-Buktenika tests (0.87-0.80). In order to determine the validity of the test structure, comparison method was applied among the debated group, and finally the teacher’s assessments have been taken into consideration. Therefore, the children’s visual motor coordination development testing sufficiency or insufficiency results were detected based on the teacher’s assessments. Results indicated that Beery VMI testing has been noticed as a reliable and valid measuring tool for children among 36-79 months
