The Effect of Ba’ath Ideology on Turkish Foreign Policy

After the Second World War, Political change in the Middle East had gained speed as a process of nation-building. The ideology that pioneered nationality was Arab nationalism, namely Ba’thism. The aim of this article is to examine Arab nationalism as ideological and real politics and to evaluate its effect on Turkish politics. In this context, the claims of Ba’ath ideology and political tendencies were evaluated over the Egyptian case . In addition, the impact of the movement on Turkey wasanalyzed with reference to a Turkish academic periodical known as Y？n.While it was observed that Arab nationalism was a source of inspiration for the countries that were trying to gain their independence, the close relationship between the USSR and the USA was demonstrated
