The Relationship Between Workload and Job Satisfaction: A Survey on Social WorkersKeywords: Sosyal Hizmet,?? Yükü,?? Tatmini Abstract: Aim: The aim of this research was to evaluate the relationship between the socio-demographic characteristics, workload and job satisfaction among social workers. Method: Study population of this research consists of social workers who are working for non-governmental organizations in Turkey and the sample consists of social workers working in the main center and branches of non-governmental organizations established in the nine different cities (Ankara, Erzurum, Bal?kesir, Yalova, Kahramanmara? and ?anl?urfa). Before the research, social workers were informed about the research. Semi-structured socio-demographic questionnaire prepared by the researchers, workload and job satisfaction questionnaire were sent to the social workers via electronic mail. Responses belong to volunteered particapants were analyzed by the SPSS 23.0 software. Findings: 51 % of the participants are male and 49% are female. The average age of participants is 25.88±3.67 and 24% of them hold from a master's degree. Among the subjects average monthly household income of social workers is 4209±1968,57 TL. 16.3% of participants are married and 85.6 % of them have a nuclear family. 60.6 % of participants living in a rental house, 28.8 % of them have their own car. Conclusion: There was no significant relationship between workload and job satisfaction of social workers. However, a moderately significant relationship was found between the internal satisfaction subscale of job satisfaction and external satisfaction subscale. There was a significant relationship between education status and workload total score (t = -2.557, p <0.05). A significant relationship was found between the social worker's time to himself and his family and the total workload score (t = -3.055, p <0.05). Significant associations were found between the job satisfaction internal subdimension (t= 4.729, p <0.05), job satisfaction external subdimension (t = -2,590, p <0.05) and job satisfaction total score (t = 4,080 p <0.05)
