LANDSCAPE ANALYSIS IN THE CITY OF GAZ？ANTEP AND DEVELOPING LANDSCAPE PLANNING SUGGESTIONS

In this study, it is aimed to analyse physical environmental structure of the city of Gaziantep by landscape characteristics, and to develop urban landscape planning suggestions. Within the study which is carried out by using geographic information systems, high resolution satellite image and application development plan, urban and rural landscape features have been put forward considering land use information. Open and green areas of the city have also been examined in terms of their total area and per capita per person ratios, thus rich perspectives were obtained for developing urban landscape planning suggestions. The results showed that urban landscape characteristics are dominant in the research area. It has been determined that open and green areas have to be used to get balance between rural and urban landscape characteristics
