Migrations and Problems According to Muhacir Newspaper

It is true that “migration” has been very important in political, social and economic lives of countries throughout the history. Turkish migrations, which started from Middle Asia for several reasons, were firstly into Anatolia. In Ottoman Empire period, migrations continued from Anatolia to Balkans. As Otoman Empire expanded its borders, it used settlement policy in conquered places to stay there permanently. That Ottoman Empire lost its power, nationalism ideas spread to the Balkans and dominant powers began to struggle led to the lands of Ottoman Empire in Rumelia turned into a “Powder Barrel” late in the 19th and aerly in 20th centuries. One of the biggest problems Ottomans faced in the late years of the empire surely was “migration”. Settled people in the region where the empire and dominant groups lost their authority started migrating from Rumelia to Anatolia. It was not the first migration in the empire. Earlier, when Ottomans lost the battle to Russia, lots of migrants came from Caucasus and Crimea to Anatolia. Without no doubt, each migration lead to many problems for countries and migrants. One of the ways to solve these kind of problems was to announce the problems and demands of migrants through press. The voice of migrants in press would be the newspaper called “Muhacir”. In this study, it is aimed to reveal the problems, solutions suggestions and demands of the migrants according to the newspaper named “Muhacir”
