Examination of Orkhon Inscriptions in terms of Educational SciencesKeywords: Orhun Yaz?tlar?,E?itim Bilimleri,E?itim Tarihi,E?itim Felsefesi,??retim ?lke,Y?ntem ve Teknikleri,Yayg?n E?itim Abstract: Orkhan inscriptions were written by G?ktürks with the Orkhan alphabet which is the first known alphabet of the Turks. It can be accepted as an example of discourse explaining Turkish history, losing freedom and the fight for independence, awareness raising activities by khagans, and their wish to reveal those which are good-bad and true-false with an enthusiastic, impressive, convincing, and literary expression. In this study, Orkhan inscriptions were examined from the perspectives of educational history, educational philosophy, educational sociology, non-formal education, teaching principles, methods and techniques, values education, educational administration, education law, educational psychology, Turkish language and literature special education methods, and education system. In terms of educational history, being the first written documents of Turkish nation makes these inscriptions important for chronological history education. When the inscriptions are examined in terms of educational philosophy and educational sociology, it is seen that they include some examples of citizenship education which is at the forefront educational aims. In terms of non-formal education, public administrators educate Turkish people and raise public awareness in the inscriptions. In terms of teaching principles, methods and techniques, discourse among the expression techniques, case method, and question-answer method are used in the inscriptions. In terms of values education, such values as independence, freedom, and struggle for peace are mentioned in the inscriptions. The concepts of leadership training, adherence to morals/law, and knowing the nation come to the forefront in the work in terms of educational administration, educational law, and educational psychology, respectively. In terms of Turkish language and literature special education methods, such techniques as giving examples, providing evidence, supporting and contrasting are examined. At the end of the study, conclusions and recommendations are presented
