Chronic diseases are increasingly prevalent in our country and in the world, with morbidity and mortality rates affecting the lives of individuals.The trend towards complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) approaches hasincreased with the increase of chronic diseases in many countries around the World. These unproven scientific practices can lead to negativeconsequences which can seriously affect human health, even cause to death. The purpose of this article is to describe the CAM methods used by individuals with chronic illnesses and its effects, sources of information about CAM and to provide data to health professionals on this issue
