Realistic Venue Use From Realist Russian Literature To Early Soviet Cinema

Abstract:

Russian literature- over. As the slogan "peace, bread, land, freedom" used in the Revolution of 1917, Russian literary figures deal with issues such as land, poverty, war, misery. In the works of authors like Dostoevsky, Tolstoy, Gorki, Gogol, the events happen in places which the readers know. Early Russian filmmakers use streets and harbours as a set. The understanding of the real venue use has hit the top by directors like Sergei Eisenstein, Pudovkin and Vertov. Russian realistic literature and Russian cinema are parallel to venue use. In literary works, venue is envisioned in reader’s mind by way of event patterns and dialogues rather than depiction of excessive venue. The films are displayed in a constant venue image. Directors have used too much close-ups to increase the impact. Although the spatial phenomenon disappears here, the spatial perception of the spectator is alive in the mind because of the sequence of events. Russian literature prepares the revolution based on the techniques it uses, including spatial use. The Russian cinema maintains the revolution. In our study, many films such as Battleship Potemkin, Mother etc. were observed as spatial methods and discourse analysis was performed. In realist discourse, In realist discourse, the all spaces were evaluated as internal and external spaces Besides, many novels such as Dostoevsky, Tolstoy and Gorky have been read and their space depictions have been compared with the above mentioned films in the context of realist discours
